Dear Comrades,
Our PM is precariously sitting on a 3 legged chairs.A slight sneeze from Umno will definitely throw him out from the PM post. After the unexpected lost of 5+1 states to the Barisan Rakyat, the PM is under tremendous pressure to step down.He is not only hummilated from the Rakyat but also from his own UMNO and BN partners who took advantage of his weakened position.
Three Deputy Minister have refused to accept the post which is unprecedented during Dr M premiership.Even UMNO youth go against him by refusing to take any action against Mukhrif on the letter send to him to ask him to resign.Later when Mohd Taib who was appointed by him to strengthen his position proposed that UMNO general election to be postponed next year, his proposal was thrown out during the UMNO Supreme meeting which was actually chaired by him. This shows that he have lost support even among his own UMNO members.
The latest bashing came from the Royalties. The Raja Perlis refused to accept the PM appointed man Dato Shahidan as the Menteri Besar and appointed his own man as the Menteri besar, unheard of during Dr M time.Taking advantage from the situation in Perlis, the Sultan of Terengganu exert his power to nominate Dato Ahmad Said as the Menteri Besar instead of Dato Seri Idris who was Pak Lah preferred choice. The stand off between the PM and the Sultan who was the current King finally resolved with the PM made to eat humble pie.
The Terengganu saga was a test of PM credibility which he failed miserably. He had disappointed the group of 22 state assemblymen who have been standing solidly behind him during the standoff. How are the UMNO members going to support him if cannot handle such an important situation.PM days are numbered and it will be a miracle if he can withstand the coming UMNO election due to be held this December 2008.His challenger will most likely be Tengku Razaleigh who have the support of Dr M and many disgruntled division heads. It won't be surprise if Tengku can muster more than 30% division support for him to qualify for the contest.
